Position on Energy Label for Lighting System Design

LightingEurope appreciates the current activities of the European Commission to explore possibilities of setting energy requirements for lighting systems under existing EU regulations. LightingEurope believes that in the ENER Lot37 study on lighting systems energy labelling lighting system designs is one of the policy options that shall be considered.

The importance of good quality lighting whilst saving energy

The European application norms should be referenced in European legislation in order to safeguard the minimum light quality in each application whilst saving energy. LightingEurope suggests in case of energy requirements for lighting systems in existing legislation (e.g. Ecodesign, Energy label and/or Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) there should be a reference to the relevant European EN Application Norms.

LightingEurope launched the Strategic Roadmap 2025 at Light & Building in Frankfurt. LightingEurope welcomes European Environmental Bureau (EEB) “use of tolerances” initiative

LightingEurope welcomes the initiative of the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) that the “use of tolerances” should be subjected to improved governance. The European Commission is planning a harmonization of all existing lighting regulation and LightingEurope sees this as the right moment to address this matter again in the ongoing regulatory process.
