The document has been originally developed from the need to put order and harmonize the factors and data that are used to evaluate the performance of LED based luminaires.
Compared to the previous edition, more emphasis has been put on explaining the “useful life” (useful lifetime) performance requirements. Since lifetime of LED light sources keeps growing and the industry is facing higher and higher lifetime claims, the paper recommends a fixed set of performance data for LED based luminaires. The references to the most recent standards have also been updated.
LightingEurope believes that the establishment of simplified performance metrics that support the needs of good lighting design and allow easy product-to-product comparisons will add value to the professional market.
