EU Green Deal Compendium

LightingEurope is making available to all members and members of our national associations a Compendium of the most important legislation for the lighting industry related to the EU Green Deal.

This document is designed to help our members, particularly smaller companies, navigate and comply with the key sustainability regulations and directives recently adopted by the EU institutions.

Why a Compendium? Why it matters to your company?

Understanding the regulations is vital for fair competition and compliance, key elements of LightingEurope's 2030 strategy. While this compendium isn't a substitute for in-depth legal analysis, it offers essential guidance for companies to ensure compliance and strategic planning.
The EU Green Deal presents not only compliance costs, but also new business opportunities (e.g. through the harmonisation of sustainability rules in the EU market or through the renovation of buildings under the EPBD). Being aware of the requirements in advance can ease your business's transition to sustainability and better equip your company for the future.

Where does the content come from?

Our team has been involved in the legislative debate of the EU Green Deal and has kept members informed throughout the process. Now LightingEurope is dedicated to supporting members in the implementation phase by sharing the expertise we've gathered over the years.

The summaries and comments have been developed with input from our staff, various trade associations and members, and, where available, informal feedback from EU officials during the legislative debate. The Compendium also contains links to the official texts from the EU Official Journal. Where the text has not yet been published (e.g. the Green Claims Directive), you will find a link to the latest available text.

The information provided in these guidelines is our interpretation of the regulations or directives and does not represent an official interpretation of the requirements set out in the regulations and directives themselves.
